Where are you based?
In Knysna, on the Garden Route. I draw for people all over South Africa: you send your photos online, and I deliver the finished piece. Pet portraits in Knysna
How long does a portrait take?
An A5 portrait takes about 3 weeks, an A4 about 4 weeks and an A3 about 6 weeks, counted from when I start drawing. My next free slot is October. For Christmas, please order by 20 November.
What photos work best?
Photos taken in daylight, at your pet's eye level, with the eyes in focus and the whole head in frame. Send several if you can. I check every photo before I start, and I'll ask for another if one won't work.
What's the difference between coloured pencil and stippling?
Coloured pencil is built up in fine, soft layers of colour. Stippling is drawn in ink from thousands of tiny dots, placed one at a time by hand: crisper and more graphic, with colour where it matters, like a collar. You choose the technique when you order. About stippling
How does payment work?
You pay in full when you book, on a secure payment page. Payment is non-refundable once I start drawing.
Can you draw a pet that has died?
Yes, and I take great care with these. I often work from old or imperfect photos. Send me what you have on WhatsApp before you pay, and I'll tell you honestly what I can do. Memorial portraits
Do you deliver?
Anywhere in South Africa. Unframed pieces travel flat in a board-backed envelope, by courier for R150 or to a pickup locker for R99. Framed pieces are collected in Knysna, because glass breaks in the post. Collection in Knysna is free.
What do the frames look like?
Framed portraits arrive ready to hang. I offer: Black frame, cream mount, from R850 at A4.
Do you sell your wildlife drawings?
Yes. Finished wildlife and bird drawings are for sale on the Originals page. Each original is signed and sells once, and some I can draw again for you to order.
Can I give a portrait as a gift?
Yes. A gift voucher pays for a portrait size, and the person who receives it sends me their photos when they're ready. It can go as an email card on a date you choose, or as a printed card. Gift ideas
Will you share my pet online?
Only if you say yes. When you order, a checkbox asks permission to share the finished portrait on Instagram and in the gallery. Your photos and details are only used for your portrait, in line with POPIA.
